Welcome to the parish of St. Oswald and St. Cecilia, with the Shrine of St. Brendan, serving the people of Old Swan and Tuebrook in the Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool

Pastoral Area Working Group

At the recent meeting of PAWG, Fr. Mark informed members that the Archbishop has asked that our Pastoral Area move from ‘Pastoral Area in Preparation’ to ‘Pastoral Area in Transition.’ This means that within 18 months we must produce a Development Plan as to how our group of parishes will work closer together to proclaim the Good News in their communities, and this can find new focus and the avoidance of duplication of task, in the implementation of With You Always in approaching the sacraments and family catechesis. All questions, such as number of priests, parishes, buildings, money, must find their place within the challenge of catechesis, evangelisation and engagement with the whole local community. This is an exciting and challenging time for us all.

Over the last year, members of PAWG have been concentrating on 3 specific areas: Spirituality, Education in Faith & Communication/Administration. From September 3 news areas will be considered: Provision of Mass & Sacraments within the Pastoral Area, Sacramental Preparation & Evengelisation & Mission. From spring 2012 there will then be 3 final areas to concentrate our efforts on. From working within these areas, the Development Plan will then be written to be presented to the Archbishop and his Council.

Please pray for the members of the Working Group. Your parish reps are: Mary Kenny, Simon Holleron, Steve Gaynor & Tim Raynor. Fr. Mark & Deacon John are ex-officio members.
